Ernest McCann of St. Paul is Creditland's "Editor of the Year 2009"

Congratulations Ernest, we will thank you when you save the world, but in the between time, Creditland would like to thank you for your December article "Bulletproofing" profiling "Max's" family strategy to keep a St. Paul, Minnesota roof over everyone's head vis a vis the credit industry and bad job prospects.

You deserve thanks and the best we could come up with was our very first Medal of Honor: The Creditland Editor of the Year award.

In a ceremony fit for a publisher moving from Minnesota to Georgia, the ceremony took place on a week day before Christmas in the heart of Ramsey County. I handed Ernest the Medal of Honor in the lunch lounge overlooking the St. Paul waterfront on the Mississippi while a few coworkers sat scattered across lunch tables.

That was our second meeting in St. Paul. When we first met it was in the snow, midday, at a taqueria on the South side of the river. After getting lost and being late, I spent a lot of time talking about Malcolm X and the power of using language independent of a repressive force...and still Ernest stayed on to complete "Bulletproofing." We sincerely hope you keep doing your thing, especially for Creditland.

Ernest said he'd wear the Creditland Medal of Honor, and that makes us proud. You are Creditland, Ernest. You get it. Congratulations.
